SURA 43. AZ-ZUKHRUF (ORNAMENTS OF GOLD, LUXURY)

1. Ha. Mim. 2. By the Scripture which maketh plain, 3. Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 4. And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 5. Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 6. How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 7. And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 8. Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of themen of old hath gone [before them].

SURA 44. AD-DUKHAN (SMOKE)

1. Ha. Mim. 2. By the Scripture that maketh plain 3. Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning - 4. Whereon every wise command is made clear 5. As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 6. A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower, 7. Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye wouldbe sure.

SURA 3. AL-E-IMRAN (THE FAMILY OF 'IMRAN, THE HOUSE OF 'IMRAN)

1. Alim. Lam. Mim. 2. Allah! There is no Allah save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. 3. He hath revealed unto thee [Muhammad] the Scripture with truth, confirmingthat which was [revealed] before it, even as He revealed the Torah and theGospel. 4. Aforetime, for a guidance to mankind; and hath revealed the Criterion [ofright and wrong]. Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, theirs willbe a heavy doom. Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite [the wrong].

SURA 22. AL-HAJJ (THE PILGRIMAGE)

1. O mankind! Fear your Lord. Lo! the earthquake of the Hour [of Doom] is atremendous thing. 2. On the day when ye behold it, every nursing mother will forget her nurslingand every pregnant one will be delivered of her burden, and thou [Muhammad] wiltsee mankind as drunken, yet they will not be drunken, but the Doom of Allah willbe strong [upon them]. 3. Among mankind is he who disputeth concerning Allah without knowledge, andfolloweth each froward devil; 4. For him it is decreed that whoso taketh him for friend, he verily willmislead him and will guide him to the punishment of the Flame. 5. O mankind! if ye are in doubt concerning the Resurrection, then lo! We havecreated you from dust, then from a drop of seed, then from a clot, then from alittle lump of flesh shapely and shapeless, that We may make [it] clear for you. And We cause what We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed time, andafterward We bring you forth as infants, then [give you growth] that ye attainyour full strength. And among you there is he who dieth [young], and among youthere is he who is brought back to the most abject time of life, so that, afterknowledge, he knoweth naught. And thou [Muhammad] seest the earth barren, butwhen We send down water thereon, it doth thrill and swell and put forth everylovely kind [of growth].
